Appropriation as a System of Value Production—Erik Brunetti’s Conceptual Practice Across Art, Commerce & Law

Erik Brunetti’s four-decade practice examines how recognizable visual forms accumulate authorship, authority, ownership, and value as their meanings are repeatedly transformed through public use, reproduction, recontextualization, and institutional interpretation.

Before the Catalogue Raisonné—Evidence, Fragmentation & the Reconstruction of Artistic Histories

Artistic history emerges through the reconstruction of dispersed evidence across archives, collections, markets, and publications. Framing the archive as a distributed network clarifies how cultural continuity is preserved across fragmented systems of documentation.

Notes On The Edition Process––Tonal Architecture & Screen Separation

The silkscreen editions derived from Erik Brunetti’s ink drawings are often perceived initially as monochromatic works, though their production methodology is considerably more complex than a conventional black-and-white screenprint reproduction.

Oval Parody—Graphic Memory, Mechanical Reproduction & the Evolution of an Icon

In 2022, Erik Brunetti returned to a core symbol from his practice: the oval form that first appeared in his FUCT graphics in the early 1990s. The resulting body of work — Oval Parody— consists of twelve acrylic paintings on canvas.

Collecting Beyond Speculation—On Art In The Era Of Financial Engineering

Financial systems may shape visibility, but they cannot entirely manufacture artistic permanence.

From Archive to Circulation—Conditions for Cultural Reentry

The Erik Brunetti Foundation for the Arts formalizes supervised edition releases, production records, and public-facing archival continuity through new print works produced in collaboration with Brand X Editions, New York.

The Archive Is the Artwork––Cultural Record Governance and the Production of Evidence

Archives are often described as neutral repositories, yet they actively produce the evidentiary conditions under which history can be known. Every archive determines what qualifies as evidence, what can be attributed, verified, and transmitted as cultural knowledge.

The True Value of Art––Framework for Cultural Stewardship

A policy-oriented framework proposing criteria for discussing intrinsic value beyond market price, grounded in authorship integrity and continuity of practice.

Oval Parody—Print Edition Production

Process documentation recorded to establish authorship, provenance, and continuity at the point of production.

Marfa Field Record: Non-Circulatory Production

This entry documents process materials produced in Marfa, Texas, under conditions of material constraint and deliberate non-circulation. The work is preserved as evidentiary record, prioritizing method, material response, and authorship over exhibition or market visibility.
